Pressing Ctrl-1 will add a Subsurf modifier with Levels set to 1. Pressing Ctrl-2, 3, or 4 will do the same but, with Levels set to 2, 3, or 4, respectively. This will work in both the Object and Edit modes. However, you can only use this keystroke for one object at a time.
This should save you a few clicks. Happy Blendering!

Hello, first I have to say that your blog is heaven sent! I have a question that maybe off topic but I hope you don't mind. What I'd love to know how to do is setup my pointer to look like yours, with the circle of color around it showing its area of influence.
Thank you,
Eric
Thanks!
Actually, that circle of color is a feature of the screen capturing process. It simply highlights the mousepointer to make it easier for viewers to keep track of it. I don't actually see the highlight until I playback the captured video.
Thanks again.
Thanks again, no wonder no matter how or where I'd try to look this up it was always a blank.
You know what, would this be something to maybe add to this open source software?
Thank you very much,
Eric
