Tip: Moving Objects out of the Local View without exiting the Local View mode

This feature is found in both Blender 2.49 and 2.5.

Nice tip.
Request:
I have been doing a lot of architectural modeling and have been trying to get a realistic looking stone wall texture for things like chimneys and parts of walls. Regular texturing works OK until you get to the corners and then the illusion breaks down. I tried sculpting something and then texture painting the cement between the stones, but things get bogged down when I crank up the Multires. How about a tutorial on something like this?
